About

I’m an educator. I think children are capable of much more than we give them credit for, partly because they are more willing than we adults are to take risks, which makes them super open-minded and creative. However, students need guidance in their learning and development and they need different opportunities to explore. That’s where we come in.

I’m a tech enthusiast. I’m interested in the integration of tech in education and possibilities this opens up for instruction and learning. We know that students are going to be interacting with new smartphones, computers, and software no matter what, so why not use these things as tools to enhance learning experiences?  School boards are becoming more open, and even encouraging the integration of tech in the classroom. However, many teacher might still feel hesitant to use new resources available to them..Do we actually know what resources are out there, or where to find them? And how do we use them? Where do we go for help? It makes sense, how can we teach what we don’t know? Looks like we’ve got more to learn.

I’m going to start here, on this blog. First step in my journey towards being a better 21st century educator is teaching myself a new relevant language: Swift. And I’ll go from there.
